It’s not just what you eat
Did you know that it’s not only what you eat that has an impact on your digestive system but also the position of your organs?
A great analogy is to think of your digestive system as a garden hose with a series of small pumps throughout its length. You can pump the cleanest water through the hose, but if you have a kink or a severe blockage, that water is going nowhere. Or, for example, if one or more of the pumps in the system is running out of sync with the others. You’re going to have water backing up or building up where you don’t want it to.
Your bodies digestive system needs to work in the same way as our garden hose example. And when the digestive system develops its kinks and pump problems your body will let you know something is wrong. Depending on the seriousness of the problem, the warning signs can range from uncomfortable to severe pain.
One cause of digestive issues can range from traumas due to severe accidents to a slight fall. Think of a dropped grocery bag. The bag itself may be intact, but the contents inside have shifted, or kinked, considerably. Even scar tissue from surgery or from an accident in the distant past can have an impact on your body to this day.
Our bodies own automatic defence system even has an impact. What we like to call stress is a part of our “fight or flight’ reactions to the world around us. And your digestive system is low on the priority list during times of stress. This is why you often hear stressed out people complaining of ulcers.
